Anniversary Weekend at the Coast

This weekend Alicia set up our anniversary celebration , we switch off each year taking on this responsibility. She consulted with our good friends Mark and Tanis and picked a newly remodeled lodge at Cannon Beach called The Ocean Lodge. Mark was one of the contractors responsible for the framing of the lodge and out buildings. We stayed in a corner room on the second floor, room 214. It had an ocean view which included an unobstructed view of Cannon Beach’s famous Haystack Rock. We stayed for two nights. The first night we had a great dinner at The Wayfarer which is one of, if not the only, restaurant with a view of the ocean in Cannon Beach. The food was great, I had the Northwest Razor Clams clams and Alicia had the Halibut Fish & Chips but the best dinner had to be at Newmans@988 where we went Saturday night with Mark and Tanis. It’s a small house converted into a French-Italian restaurant. I had the Chicken Picatta and Alicia ate the Lobster Ravioli. Both dishes were to die for, I would highly recommend this place.

During the weekend one of the guests proposed by writing “Will You Marry Me” in the sand on the beach in front of where our room was and the unsuspecting fiancé wrote “Yes” underneath. What a classy and memorable way to propose. Ours was like – “Hey, you want to get married?” , “Sure”…. “OK – let’s do it, when”.. “I don’t care, we could do it in time for the marriage conference, you have to be married to attend”. “OK….”. And the rest is history.

I was taking some “off camera flash” pictures through an umbrella of Alicia and Mark and Tanis on our porch Saturday night continuing to learn how to get this stuff to work. Alicia seen the couple that just proposed that morning and invited them up to have their pictures taken and the said sure, why not. So I took a couple of photo’s and posted them HERE so that could see them.

It was a great weekend, one of those that you don’t want to end but work call’s to help finance our next great adventure…

Our Anniversary is April 20th and every year is a honeymoon.

Cheers.
