What’s a Turkey Rama anyway’s?

For the past 48 years McMinnville, Oregon has been celebrating turkey’s, of all things.  I  guess back in the olden days this area was know for its turkey production.  In the 1960′s it was a $3M business, the largest in the area.  So why not celebrate turkey’s and have a Turkey Rama ?

Two event’s I have learned to go to after moving to Lafayette.  One is the UFO parade and the other is Turkey Rama.  The best part, I think, about Turkey Rama is getting a “half a BBQ’d turkey”.  You can buy a turkey dinner but I just want the meat.  They sell so much turkey on Saturday (the only time you can get it) it’s unbeleavable.

Here are some pictures of the large, and I mean large, grill that they cook all the turkey halves on –

At the Downtown Festival at Turkey Rama you are able to stroll down
beautiful tree lined Third Street and enjoy over 150 booths featuring
arts-and-crafts, sidewalk sales, as well as local food vendors.

Hope you enjoyed being enlighten on McMinnvilles “Turkey Rama”.

Cheers…
